Casa Botania, a unique Bed & Breakfast in San Vito in the Southern highlands of Costa Rica

Casa Botania is a refreshing fine Bed & Breakfast in the beautiful highland countryside of Southern Costa Rica, about half way between the Wilson Botanical Garden / Las Cruces Biological Station and the town of San Vito de Coto Brus. This small family lodge, run by a Tico-Belgian family, is perched on a mountainside in the vicinity of San Vito and features a splendid and spacious view on the Coto Brus valley, as well as the primary forest reserve of Las Cruces, a prime birdwatching destination. The property itself has a little over 3 hectares of reforested area, where you will find a small waterfall as you explore the adventurous forest trails.

The four rooms are made with care, which you’ll notice the  details. They are rustic on the outside with a cozy, comfortable and modern interior design that emphasizes natural materials. All the furniture is made out of local Black Walnut and crafted by experienced artisans of the region. All rooms have Wifi, Satellite TV, coffee maker, private bathroom and private balcony with a one million dollar view into the Talamanca Valley. A complimentary buffet-style breakfast is served on a Gaudi-inspired romantic deck from where you can also bird watch or just enjoy the garden and spectacular almost 360º view. The structure of the main deck was an inspiration of a local artist, named Pancho, and designed together with the owners to become a useful and original piece of art. It sustains the roof of the main deck and serves as a water runoff and at the same time, it became an immense, artistic window inviting you to admire the natural surroundings.

Casa Botania also offers dinners to their guests. In their Farm-to-Table inspired style Restaurant an elegant three-course menu of the day is served upon reservation. The tasty food is prepared with lots of care and most of the fruits and vegetables comes straight from local farmers to your plate. Simplicity, Quality, Freshness and Whole food ingredients are the key words in Casa Botania’s Cuisine, where plant-based or fish/seafood plates are served.

If you decide to have dinner elsewhere, the charming town of San Vito is only 5 km away and easily accessible by bus or taxi if you don’t have your own transportation.

Come and discover the beauty of Casa Botania and the southern Pacific Highland.
